Every day, each of us has a decision about what to wear…
Feeling uninspired?!?
Before you grab the same old suit/dress/shoes, ask yourself this:
What can my PERSONAL STYLE say about my PERSONAL BRAND?
Last week I introduced you to my “Fabulous Fashionista Friend,” the “Swiss Renaissance woman” Anne V. Muhlethaler. This week I want to share with you two of Anne’s PERSONAL STYLE insights that really stood out to me:
1️⃣ The power of VISUALIZING your personal style
2️⃣ How to know WHAT TO BUY and what to leave in the store!
VISUALIZE Your Personal Style
This simple-yet-powerful exercise can help you to leverage your personal style to embody your optimal personal brand.

“Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”
Visualizing your Personal Style is about taking this well-known saying to a whole new level!
1️⃣ Focus on your PERSONAL BRAND. Who are you and who do you want to be? Consider your expertise, your values, your traits.
2️⃣ Close your eyes and VISUALIZE what it will be like to embody your optimal personal brand. Think about your successful self, five years from now.
3️⃣ Picture your SURROUNDINGS. Where are you? What kind of room/office are you in? What does the furniture look like? What’s on the walls?
4️⃣ Look at YOURSELF. What are you wearing? What colour is your outfit? Are you wearing any accessories? What do they look like? What kind of shoes are you wearing?
A few of Anne’s shoes
As Anne says, once we’ve VISUALIZED our personal style it becomes a lot easier to step into those shoes because somehow you’ve been in them once before – if only in your mind!
To Buy or Not To Buy…
How do you know if you should buy something or not?
Cultivating your personal style really comes down to one thing: identifying what makes you happy.

For some people, figuring out the elements that comprise personal style comes naturally. But if you’re like most of us, you can probably benefit from Anne’s shopping tips:
- TRY ON a lot of things (many many things!)
- Spend TIME trying different options (like over an hour in the dressing room!)
- ASK for HELP from a salesperson (Find someone you trust. They’ll ❤️ helping you!)
Here’s the best shopping advice I’ve heard in a long time:
If you’re on the fence about whether to buy a piece of clothing, ask yourself:
I want to wear it RIGHT NOW?”
(Even though it’s not necessarily appropriate in the shopping mall?!?)
✅ If you want to cut the tags off and wear it right away, BUY IT!
❌ If it doesn’t give you that feeling of happiness, LEAVE IT BEHIND!
Please forward this to your friends who might like help with their communication skills. Thank you.
