September is back, routines are back, and apparently, so is my excuse to celebrate. (I’m as surprised as you – trust me!)
After a fast-paced summer (travel, work on my book, moving two of my three kids), I’m settling back into my fall rhythm. And as I looked at what I wanted to talk about with you this week, one theme kept popping up:
Celebration
So, let’s celebrate!
Three things to talk about this week:
- Celebrating others: This is what effective leaders do
- Celebrating the book – and your input (thank you!)
- Celebrating women: Introducing the Fall Women’s Masterclass
1️⃣ Celebrating others: This is what effective leaders do
Last week I hosted a free, live, one-hour training focused on Executive Presence For Women. As always, I saved time at the end for questions. The Q&A is my favourite part. (Yes really!)
One participant asked a thought-provoking question:
I knew the answer right away. This is something I’ve noticed about the impressive leaders I coach and the thought leaders I admire.
I suggested we all go to LinkedIn and look at the recent activity of leaders we admire. If it’s not immediately obvious what they’re doing, look at their comments.
Here’s what I’ve noticed consistently:
They do this online, yes, and everywhere.
It’s simple. It’s generous. And it’s a powerful way to demonstrate leadership presence.
We covered lots more in this one hour live training session, including:
- How to handle the interrupters: acknowledge them, redirect attention, and finish your thought.
- How to leverage imposter syndrome. Yes, I said “leverage.” Imposter syndrome can be a good thing!
- How to control your narrative. Instead of defaulting to chronology, share the through-line that makes your next step sound inevitable.
If you missed the training, I have good news. We just released this live training as a podcast episode (ep.221). You can watch it or listen to it now on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, or wherever you get your podcasts.
2️⃣ Celebrating the book – and your input (thank you!)
In my most recent newsletter, I shared with you that I’m writing my book, Let Me Introduce Myself (pub. Q2’27).
Many of your replied directly to the email to congratulate me. I was overwhelmed by your thoughtful messages. Thank you 🙏 for your support and encouragement. It means so much to me.
Because this book is ultimately FOR YOU, I asked for your input. I asked you 3 questions (of course 3!), to help me with the positioning of the book.
As promised, here are the results:
How do your responses compare?
The responses to the first two questions confirmed the direction I’m headed in for the book. The response to the third question validated for me that this book is needed!
Thank you for taking the time to weigh in. Your input is already influencing how I think about the book. I can’t wait to share more with you.
More to come!
3️⃣ Celebrating women: Introducing the Fall Women’s Masterclass
And finally, something else worth celebrating: the Fall Women’s Executive Presence & Personal Branding Masterclass starts next week. I can’t wait!
If you’re a woman who wants to communicate with more confidence and credibility, this is for you.
Among other things, we’ll cover:
- How communicating at work is different for women, and what to do about it. Think being interrupted, being ignored, imposter syndrome, the impossible tightrope, assumptions and biases…
- How to develop leadership presence, step by step.
- How to identify, articulate and communicate your unique personal brand.
This isn’t about becoming someone else. Rather, it’s about understanding yuor authentic self, deciding how you want to show up, and becoming more intentional about your impact.
We have a few spots left. And I have an opportunity for you to save:
- Use code LIVE200 before Wednesday September 16th at midnight ET to save $200.
If you have questions about the Masterclass, just hit reply and I’ll respond. I’d love to see you there!
So this week, we’re celebrating the people who elevate others , your input into my book (thanks again!), and the women who are ready to communicate with more confidence and credibility.
I leave you with this last thought:
Have a great week!
