So, have you figured out your SUPERPOWER yet?
Your superpower is also connected to your Personal Brand. It’s what you’re known for. It’s your reputation. It’s how other people think of you when you’re not there.
This is one of the reasons why articulating your superpower is so important – especially in a professional context.
Here are 5 questions
to help you identify your superpower…
Q1: What’s your best day at work?
Picture yourself when you’re having the BEST DAY at work.

Where are you?
What are you doing?
Who are you with?
Why is this a great day?
How does it make you feel?
This is a really fun visualization exercise, but also really useful. Your superpower may be related to something you most enjoy about your workday.
Q2: What differentiates you relative to your peers?
Think about the colleagues, clients, and classmates you’ve worked with over the years.
What sets you apart?
What makes you stand out?
Here’s another thought exercise for you:
Imagine you’re up for a promotion, but there are two others being considered. What makes YOU right for the job? That’s your superpower.
Q3: What compliments are the most meaningful to you?
Who doesn’t love receiving a compliment?
We all like being told we’re nice, smart, attractive, thoughtful, creative, dedicated, and generally having our praises sung.

But the compliments that truly make us light up point to the things that are most important to us.
Another way to go about this is to think about the CRITICISMS that anger you the most.
Once you identify WHAT bothers you, take some time to figure out WHY it bothers you. This will help you hone in on the characteristics and skills for which you want to be recognized.
Q4: What topic are you obsessed with?
What’s the thing you’d rather work on than anything else?
What topic are you always eager to discuss?
What do you wish you could spend all your time learning about?
That’s your obsession.

It might feel like you’re the only one interested in this topic, or you might feel like you have to hide it from others because they’re sick of hearing you go on about it.
If this is the case, don’t be discouraged. This means it’s something unique and recognizable about you. In other words, a superpower!

Q5: What comes easy for you?
Think back to when you were in school.
What were your favourite subjects? What areas did you excel in?

Now think about your work. What are you regularly praised for in your annual review? What would your boss say is your biggest strength?
Here’s one last mental exercise for you (***this is my favourite superpower prompt):
If you were going to create
a new course
or write a book,
what would it be about?
The answer might be your superpower!
